Using hot tools to add wax to wax

 Blocking Armor

! Warning – Be careful when using hot electric tools and working with open flames. Read all safety instructions that come with each device and any fuels.

The goal is to rough out the shapes of the armor that will be refined later

  1. Dip hot spoon tool in spare wax

  2. Touch the surface with the hot tool to the surface of the model and apply the wax

  3. Build up in the shape of a shoulder pad. Rotate the model to ensure the wax doesn’t run off

  4. Use a cold blade tool to refine the shape

Adding Pouches

The goal is to build up enough wax that we can carve it back to the desired shape.

  1. Dip hot probe tool in spare wax

  2. Touch the surface with the hot tool to the surface of the model and apply the wax

  3. Build up in a small rectangular shape

  4. Use cold blade tool to square the edges

  5. Refine the detail
